Every year over 1000 abstracts of exceptional quality are submitted for presentation at the Annual Meeting of ESPGHAN. Delegates at the previous Annual Meetings enjoyed fascinating sessions on a huge range of topics. Networking sessions around the extensive poster display are a great aspect of the meeting. Submitting an abstract for the 52nd Annual Meeting provides a great opportunity for your work to be viewed by thousands of peers from all over the world.
The Abstract Submission Guidelines are available here. Please read this information carefully before proceeding to the online abstract submission. Only abstracts that meet these guidelines can be accepted for the meeting.
The submission of your abstract
Abstracts can only be submitted online via the online abstract submission tool. Abstracts sent by post or email will not be accepted. No exceptions will be made.
You can interrupt your online submission at any time and continue it later – your data will be saved. You can re-edit/modify your abstract after final submission but only until the submission deadline. After the deadline (10 December 2018) no corrections or changes of the abstract title and the co-authors can be made anymore.
After your submission
After successful submission of your abstract you will receive an automatic confirmation by email.
The reviewers will judge the abstracts according to the relevance to ESPGHAN 2019. They will assess the standard of English, objectivity of statements, description of the work, suitability of methods to aims, conclusions confirmed by objective results, ethics, scientific value, potential clinical value, originality of work and overall impression.
The submitting author will be notified from 14 February 2019 onwards whether the abstract has been accepted. Notifications will be sent via email to the email address of the abstract submitter provided (corresponding author) during the online submission. It is the authors’ responsibility to ensure that emails from ESPGHAN and from the submission tool (abstractserver.com) can reach them. Within the notification authors will be informed of the date, time and form of their presentation.
All abstracts accepted for presentation (oral or poster) will be published in digital format in the Congress App as well as on the virtual meeting site. The abstracts for the 52nd Annual Meeting of ESPGHAN will also be published in the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition (JPGN). Please note that the abstracts will be published approximately three weeks prior to the Annual Meeting.
Rules on scientific abstract presentations at ESPGHANs meetings
ESPGHAN provides platforms for oral and poster presentations of scientific findings, usually submitted in abstract form, at its annual conferences and other meetings. The presentations should focus on the presentation and discussion of scientific data and should not in any way be abused for marketing or advertising purposes. Any financial support by commercial companies and any other ties to commercial companies such as employment and honoraria must be transparently disclosed. The use of brand names of commercial products should be avoided, unless the disclosure of brand names is necessary for the understanding of the abstract or presentation in which case the brand name should not be used more than once. The name of companies linked to the research should be disclosed but no company logos should be used in scientific presentations in order to avoid even the suspicion of undue promotional activities.
