The speaker:
Özlem Cekic
Özlem is a Danish-Kurdish former politician who was the first female member of parliament (MP) with a Muslim immigrant background. She is now General-Secretary of the organisation Brobyggerne (The Bridge-builders) - Center for Dialog Coffee.
Özlem about herself:
I am a bridge builder, lecturer, author, debater and former MP. I fundamentally believe that there is more that binds us together than divides us. With this starting point, I give lectures, collaborate with companies, organizations and media, write books and interfere in the social debate to promote dialogue between population groups in Denmark.
The content:
Denmark and the world around us are experiencing war, terror and refugee flows. The number of New Danes in Denmark is increasing. We fear the unknown, but we have much more in common than what separates us. How do we deal with people from other countries and different cultures? Is it possible to act as professionals and separate our work from private life? And finally, what is our role as visiting doctors or health care professionals starting a career abroad.
What to expect:
- Özlem is an experienced speaker, she will tell us about the urgent need for an open discussion as a powerful way to avoid hate and violence.
- How to reach out to the people we think we have nothing in common with.
- Be ready to rethink social interactions.
- Time to discuss your thoughts.
Please note:
- The participation is complimentary for all ESPGHAN participants
- No pre-registration is required.
